Snow and the Bulldogs

This morning we awoke to the beauty of snow and it even landed on our concrete bulldog on the front porch. It is March 1, 2009 and was a real surprise. It was raining when we went to bed and awoke to find a two-inch covering of everything in Starkville. If you thought Starkville was beautiful BEFORE--you would really be awed by this pretty snowfall. As we drove north toward home today the snowfall got less and less and then when we hit the Red Banks Road it became obvious that we were in much deeper snow and in fact, when we pulled in our driveway, we had about 5 inches of snow on our house and in our yard. The last snow of this magnitude here was in 1988 when we were out in Colorado skiing and Eleanor was keeping Camille (and I am sure Lindsay, too) and took pictues of Camille on her red American Flyer sled for us. She never used the sled again as it never snowed that much again. The last time it snowed in Memphis was March of 1958 and I will talk more about that event later this month. The Bulldog Baseball team took two Saturday and the cagers lost. Today they opponent baseball team forfeited to us in a rare and somewhat controversial event. We said they forfeited. They said the game was cancelled. The NCAA said we won. That is the law.
